About HLTAID009 CPR Course

Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR in various situations, including community and workplace settings.

  • Deliver CPR safely with modern techniques
  • Obtain consent and permission to treat
  • Perform manual rescue breathing
  • Perform chest compressions
  • Operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Follow the DRS ABCD action plan
  • Assess risk to patient and yourself
  • Manage Duty of care to casualty
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Online CPR Course

1 Hour

Complete 1 hour of convenient e-learning from anywhere with internet access using your personal smartphone, laptop, or desktop computer

In-Person CPR Training

30 Minutes

Attend one of our physical training locations to revise the key elements in our exclusive CPR training presentation & observe the use of a Manikin and AED

Complete Assessment

30 Minutes

Demonstrate your new Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation skills on one Adult & one Infant Manikin in a safely simulated emergency setting

Get CPR Certification

Upon Completion

Receive your digital certificate the same day you pass the assessment, then download a copy to view or share on your personal devices

This course has no pre-requisite CPR knowledge requirements.

All e-learning and theory assessment must be completed before attending the course in person.

Participants must be physically able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor (to simulate a real casualty), and to lift and manipulate the training dummy.

All training and assessment will be done in English, requiring basic levels of reading, writing, and language ability. Please contact us if you have any concerns.

Look around for any dangers present in the area

Does the patient respond to questions, or show signs of awareness?

Call 000 and ask them to send an ambulance for help

AIRWAY

Check the airway for obstructions, and assess if you need to reposition the patient

BREATHING

Observe about their chest – is the patient breathing?

CPR

If patient isn’t breathing, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using 30 compressions and 2 breaths

D

DEFIBRILLATE

Attach an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and follow the audio instructions

What time does the course run?

The course runs in the morning, beginning around 8:00AM

What do I need to bring?

Bring your ID (such as a NSW Drivers Licence, Passport, Medicare Card), a black or blue ballpoint pen, and comfortable practical clothing

Can I complete the certification entirely online?
